Instructor: Genie Allen
Learn simple hand-stitches that will allow you to mend & repair your clothing with confidence. By mending holes, rips, and tears, you can extend the life of your family’s clothing. In this class, we will cover the running stitch, the backstitch, the whipstitch, and how to sew on a button. Visible mending using embroidery and patches can add interesting detail & embellishment to your clothing. Ages 10 and up (minors must have an adult present).
Genie taught herself to sew as a child and is an avid reader and miniature maker. She studied costume design & art history at the U of A and has taught art, ESL, and science. She is a creative arts instructor, tutor, and Community Education Coordinator.
